Walter R. Jennings 1927-05 Oil Lake Vyrnwy N.Wales
We are offering for sale this lovely, tranquil oil on canvas by the artist Walter Robin Jennings, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and signed and entitled in Lake Vyrnwy, N. Wales verso on the edge of the canvas.The painting depicts a view of the lake at either early morning or early evening, with the branches of a tree overhanging the foreground to the left.
Lake Vyrnwy (Welsh: Llyn Efyrnwy, pronounced [ɛˈvərnʊɨ] or Llyn Llanwddyn) is a reservoir in Powys, Wales, built in the 1880s for Liverpool Corporation Waterworks to supply Liverpool with fresh water. It flooded the head of the Vyrnwy (Welsh: Afon Efyrnwy) valley and submerged the village of Llanwddyn.
The Lake Vyrnwy Nature Reserve and Estate that surrounds the lake is jointly managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Hafren Dyfrdwy and is a popular destination for ornithologists, cyclists and hikers. The reserve is designated as a national nature reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Protection Area, and a Special Area of Conservation.
Walter Robin Jennings 1927-2005 was born in Dudley, Staffordshire and was an active artist throughout most of his working life. He was a landscape and animal painter, primarily in oil and exhibited widely. His work has been reproduced in card form by Medici, Royle and Solomon & Whitehead. He sadly died in Kidderminster in 2005.
There is one of his paintings in the National Collection and can be viewed at Dudley Museum.

The painting is well framed in a 3 inch ornate gilt frame and gilt slip. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and ready to hang.
