A delightful 1940s Yardley loose powder compact in excellent condition. This compact is a sleek slimline purse mirror that is suitable for use with loose face powder. The whole compact has the most glorious deep golden patina which will never need to be cleaned. The lid is adorned with embossed floral motifs, the Yardley logo, a bird and a cat. The thumb catch is painted with metallic blue enamel. The interior case is signed 'Yardley'. The mirror gives a good accurate reflection with a few age spots which in no way detract from the appeal of this vanity. The compact comes with the original pouch and clean puff which is free of powder. The inner lid has the original felt seal in place and so this model was never issued with a sifter. The base has an engine turned design of horizontal lines. Measures 6 cm x 5.4 cm and weighs 70.6 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
