This is a vintage pocket compass. An English, brass navigation instrument in the manner of Stanley of London, dating to the late 20th century.

Pleasingly weathered and of miniature fascination
Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
Polished and tarnished brass case offers shimmering tones
Lid decorated with an engraved tall ship motif and the mark 'Stanley, London 1885'

Clear, bright dial with a face diameter of 2.5cm (1")
Displaying cardinal and intercardinal points, the needle accentuated with red paint
The screw cap lid inscribed to the reverse with the poem 'Inner and Outer Time' by Jean Barlow Hudson
Screw mount to the rear of the compass offers a safe haven for the lid during use

This is a charming vintage pocket compass, with appealing weathering, pleasing tactility and of pocket sized proportion. Delivered polished ready to enjoy.
