Victorian Stained Pine Trunk
This attractive antique trunk is constructed from solid pine with a dark stained finish. It has a plinth base and a hinged lift-up lid. There are blacksmith-made metal handles to either side and the trunk retains a lock, although this appears to be a replacement and no key is present. The trunk retains its original painted interior and candle box. It would make a nice blanket box, toy box, or coffee table.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some quite heavy scuffing, denting and wear to the woodwork and stained finish as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some shrinkage cracking and wood loss to the base. There are some slight signs of old woodworm - this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. As is mentioned above the lock appears to be a replacement and no key is present. The metal parts have some surface rusting.
