A superb, heavy, Victorian blanket box, on a plinth surround. The box is constructed from extremely wide unjointed boards, with dovetail construction. The interior has an excellent base and is fitted with a lift lid candle compartment and below two adjacent dovetailed drawers, one with lock and key fastening. The box also has the original lock with key. We are unable to guarantee the continued working of the locks and they can suffer from metal fatigue due to their age, however box locks normally don’t have a lot of use so may continue to work normally for years to come.
Wax finish, original carrying handles. A fine old pine box.
