A good quality antique late Victorian oak hall table or side table dating from circa 1895 by JAS Shoolbred & Co. It has a raised serpentine gallery back above a beautifully figured moulded top. This sits above a central drawer with the original decorative brass drop handle flanked by turned pilasters. This stunning Victorian table stands on two beautifully turned legs to the front and flat legs to the back united by a cross stretcher. The drawer opens to reveal a makers stamp for “JAS Shoolbred & Co”.

James Shoolbred & Co or also known as Jas Shoolbred was established in the 1820’s as a draper’s shop, at Tottenham Court Road, London. By the 1860’s, the company began designing, manufacturing and selling its own high quality antique furniture in their thriving and fashionable antique furniture shop.
