Victorian Cast Iron Safe by J. Cartwright & Son
This antique safe dates from the second half of the nineteenth century. It has a metal plaque on the front for J. Cartwright & Son, West Bromwich, Est. 1840. The safe has nice rounded edges and retains its original paintwork, a red / brown colour with decorative line paintwork to the front. The safe retains its original brass handle and fittings, and retains two original keys for the main door. The lock is in good working order. Inside the safe is an open section with a drawer underneath. Please note that there are no keys for the drawer lock, but it is unlocked.
Condition Overall this attractive safe is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use. It is faded with some chipping and wear to the paintwork as might be expected. There are some white paint marks. The safe has some surface rusting and the brasswork is tarnished. The safe retains two keys, but as is mentioned above there is no key for the drawer inside the safe.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 61.5cm high, 43.5cm wide, 41cm deep (not including handles or hinges). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
