This a rare and gorgeous fully hallmarked sterling silver compact mirror which was made by Kigu Ltd. in 1966. The whole exterior is decorated with a technique for which this maker was famed - the 'Bark' motif. This decoration resembles the bark of silver tree. The compact has never been used and as the maker applied a layer of transparent enamel to the sterling silver during the manufacturing process it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned. The compact is in pristine condition, as is the black protective pouch.The compact is fully hallmarked in four places. The large bevelled mirror gives a perfectly clear and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is signed 'KIGU MADE IN ENGLAND'. The original hallmarked silver retaining ring is in place. The ring allows smaller sizes of powder pans to be securely installed. Pans of solid powder measuring 59 mm up to 67mm can be fitted in this compact. The standard size of powder pans (67mm) - Max Factor Creme Puff, Rimmel Stay Matte, Miss Beauty and CCUK will all fit. The original instruction leaflet is in place. The powder well is lined with a waxed paper insert. The original pink 'Kigu Plus' sifter is also present and so this purse mirror can also be used with all types of loose face powder. A clean foam puff is provided. This compact is ready to use. This solid silver handbag mirror measures 3 1/4" and weighs 107.2 grams.
