Table Clock, Vienna 1865 Burr Walnut
Austro-Hungarian Empire period table clock 1865, made just before the end of the Empire.
The case is completed in burr walnut with ebony and alabaster doric columns, cast brass beaded bezel to the convex dial.
This empire style was prevalent in Vienna, this clock was made just prior to the end of the empire and exemplifies the quality of the clocks produced in the area.
The movement has cast square plates numbered 68034, striking on a mellow gong, it has demountable spring barrels, adjustable dead beat escapement, the movement was supplied by Lorenz who were based in Bavaria.
The convex dial is in good condition with thick blued steel hands that are nicely profiled, in the Breguet manner.
The Doric columns are in very good condition with only one at the rear that has a stain, the pendulum has a shallow dent.
The case has been restored and is in very good condition, thick veneer of a very warm pleasing colour. Height 540mm
width 310mm, deep 150mm.
