A unique sterling silver loose powder compact with wonderful provenance! This compact was part of a collection of accessories auctioned on behalf of Countess Maria Carmela Attolico di Adelfia, who was married to 4th Viscount Hambleden. A charming piece of outstanding quality which was crafted by the esteemed silversmith Fratelli Cacchione. This piece does not appear to have been used. The lid and base have the most wonderful etched design adorned with bright-cut floral motifs which gleam as they catch the light. The original sifter is present and there isn't a trace of powder. This remarkable vanity bears the makers mark '39 MI' & 'FC' into an oval and also '925' for sterling silver. Push the thumb catch and the lid glides open to reveal a good mirror which gives an accurate reflection. Image one shows the lid. Images three and five are of the base. Gorgeous! Measures 8 cm x 8 cm and weighs 136.9 grams.
