Solid Oak Mantel Clock by Clock Makers to Queen Vi
A small, solid oak mantel antique clock of simple rectangular form. It has a figured oak case, with a white enamel dial with moon hands. It is signed by the original suppliers, Charles Frodsham of London and Paris. It has an 8 day French made movement which is again stamped "Charles Frodsham Clock Maker to The Queen Paris. This strikes the hours and halves on a gong.

Charles Frodsham (15 April 1810 London –1871 London) was a renowned English watch and clockmaker. He took over Arnold & Co in 1843 at 84 Strand, London. The family business, Charles Frodsham and Co. still holds the Royal Warrant of clock suppliers to the British Royal Family.[1] He was master of the Clockmakers' Company in 1855 and 1862.[2]

Time kept by a Frodsham clock was the official time piece of Australia when it was founded by the British in 1788. The clock remains on display at the Royal Observatory in Sydney.
Frodsham's demonstration double-escapement skeleton antique clock, numbered 883, manufactured for the Great Exhibition of 1851, is believed to be unique.
Current Condition
