Small Scottish longcase clock of Regulator style
A small and desirable Scottish longcase clock of Regulator style.
The 8 day duration four pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and features a recoil anchor escapement. The movement has also retained its original brass bound weights and wood rod pendulum. The round silvered brass dial displays both seconds, date and with matching blued steel hands and is signed by the maker to the centre of the dial, James Aitchison of Edinburgh. The plain mahogany veneered case has a glazed trunk door, a single plinth to the plain mahogany base and a very elegant architectural pediment.
A highly collectable longcase clock.
Note: The features of an architectural pediment and glazed trunk door make this particular longcase antique clock very appealing with either a period or contemporary setting.
Height: 6'6" / C.1850 P A Oxley Antique Clocks & Barometers have been established since 1971 and are Members of LAPADA & CINOA. We specialise in sympathetically restored antique longcase clocks, bracket clocks, wall clocks, barometers & vintage watches. All are guaranteed for 12 months.
