Small library clock, Will Chater London
A delightful Regency library timepiece of small proportions by Will Chater of London dating from c.1830.
The ebonised gadroon-topped case has inlaid brass decoration, with locking glazed front and rear doors. It is surmounted with a small brass acorn finial and is raised on brass feet. The case and movement are in excellent original condition, with no lifting of the brass fretwork as is commonly seen with this form of decoration. The back door is glazed.
The well engraved silvered dial is signed for Will Chater, London.
At just over 4 inches deep, this antique clock is ideal for a narrow mantelpiece or shelf. It is shown photographed against a carriage clock to get a sense of proportions.
The 8-day timepiece fusee movement is to be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years. The backplate features a pendulum-securing screw for transporting the antique clock.
Height: 10¾ inches (27cms)
Width: 6¼ inches (15.5cms)
Depth: 4¼ inches (11cms)
