This is a small antique carved coffer. An English, oak blanket box with Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.

Exuberant display of carved craftsmanship, with appealing proportion
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Oak stocks present deep chestnut hues throughout
Nicely figured with fine grain interest

Gadrooned edge to the lid, with a bold diamond lozenge to the centre
Front and sides adorned with carved cameo portraits in relief
