We are delighted to offer for sale this stylish bust length portrait by the Italian artist Simona Dolci, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The portrait depicts a young lady, with her dark hair piled high on her head, wearing a white dress and with a petrol blue wrap around her shoulders. She is wearing drop earrings and a pearl necklace.

Simona Dolci was born in Pesaro, Italy in 1950 and is a devotee of the realist school of painters. She achieved her Doctorate in Architecture at the University of Florence in 1975, where she taught for 5 years as an Assistant Professor. Although always interested in art, she found her vocation and talent when she attended a course of drawing at the Accademia dei Belle Arti in Florence. From 1894-1987, she studied with Nerina Simi at her studio in Florence. She then continued her studies at the Cecil-Graves Studio, where she completed her studies in 1991.

Since then, as well as executing her own paintings, she has taught drawing and painting to young artists at her studio, which is located in an old monastery in Florence, as well as at the Florence Academy of Art, where she is the Director of their Intensive Drawing Programme.

Her works are to be found in private collections in Italy, France, England, Ireland, America and Mexico. In art galleries, her works fetch upwards of £1,400.

She has exhibited in San Francisco, Atlanta, Florida, London, Florence, New York, Rhode Island, Rome, Germany, Virginia, New Mexico and Dublin.

The painting is framed in a 4 1/4" gilt frame and is ready to hang.
