Stunning little late 19th.c. ‘Davenport’ writing desk c.1900 by the celebrated English cabinet makers James Shoolbred & Co. Of exceptional quality and unusual design with tapering sides and carved panels. Brass gallery with stationery rack below. The writing slope lifts to reveal a birds eye maple lined manuscript well with two small drawers inside. Three drawers in the base also tapered to fit, the top one carrying a clear Shoolbred & Co. maker’s mark. Mahogany drawer linings throughout. On original brass barrel castors. Excellent colour and condition, restored and polished in our workshops and fitted with a new leather skiver.
