This is a charming set of four 19th century Chinese paintings in bold gouache colours on pith dating from the early 1800s.
The paintings depict birds in landscape including a golden pheasant, a pretty blue pigeon, wading moor hens and a pair of doves. There are some breaks to the pith as is usually the case with gouache paintings of this nature but they are quite stable in their original frames and are beautifully captured in strong gouache colours with fine detail to the work.
The pheasant and moorhens are in matching frames measuring 23.5 cms by 16.5 cms, the doves frame measures 23.5 cms by 17.5 cms and the other frame is 22 cms by 16.5 cms.
