Richard Britton Gouache Blue Tits & Ragged Robin

We are pleased to offer for sale this charming and meticulously detailed gouache/watercolour by the artist Richard Britton, who has signed the painting to the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts one of Britain's favourite birds, the Blue Tit, with a pair of them perched on a dead tree. With its grasslike leaves, the untidy five petalled pink flowers of ragged robin, add colour around the tree. As with the robin, this artist captures both birds, branch and flowers in minute detail.
This is one of a small collection of paintings by this artist that we have acquired and will be listing over the next few weeks.
Richard N. Britton was born in 1931 and has been a professional artist for over 40 years and his main subject is animal portraiture, as well as landscapes, seascapes and sculpture. He uses a full range of media. He lives in Worcestershire where he has his studio.
He spent six months in South Africa at the invitation of the Department of Nature Conservation, painting endangered wildlife, which led to many commissions to paint equestrian portraits on the Cape. He is a committed conservationist.
He has exhibited at the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Society of Equestrian Artists and is a regular exhibitor at Worcester Society of Artists.
The painting is mounted, glazed and framed in a 1/2" gilt frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
