Rare Victorian Solid Silver Chatelaine Clock 1873
A Rare Victorian sterling silver chatelaine antique clock / watch, made by Henry William Dee and fully hallmarked for London 1873. Retailed by the Famous and sought after Boudet, Palais Royal. Exceptional quality.
This is a superb half ball clock that rotates automatically in accordance with the angle at which it is held. Enamel dial, blue enamel digits. No damage at all to the enamelling.
The clock and case are in the form of a round silver ball with a central band and suspension ring to the top.
When held from the ring, the clock is hidden and the whole ''ball'' can be seen. When inverted, the clock face appears. The clock is fully working. Measures 1-1/4 inches / 31 mm in diameter and it weighs 66 grams.
Clear hallmarks lion passant, London mark, duty mark, letter S for 1873 and maker's mark HWD for Henry William Dee. The clock also has French import marks and retailer's stamp The Famous Boudet, 143-144 Palais Royal.
The clock is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair. A really tactile piece and highly collectable. Very thick gauge of silver. Superb quality.
