A rare Stratton powder compact which was crafted in the 1960s. This lid is fitted with a Josiah Wedgwood plaque. Compact mirrors adorned with black basalt are not at all common. The striking gold floral decorations contrast beautifully with the black basalt. There isn't any loss of design or basalt. This model is the '10-Sided Convertible' which was only available in the 1960s. The catches and hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent. The base is signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'. The whole piece is in good condition. The original sifter is present. This vanity is suitable for loose face powder and pressed powder of standard sizes. For example: Max Factor Creme Puff, Rimmel Stay Matte and all 67 mm diameter powder pans.
