Rare Moorish Andalus Alhmabra Trivet c1890
Rare and Beautiful Alhambra Al Andalus Trivet stand
This wonderful work of art is usually referred to as a ‘trivet’ as it has three feet and was designed to have a small pot of hot water placed on it. What is remarkable about this piece is that it has the Nasrid dynasty motto painted in white on blue background along with the orange colours and the heraldic shield or blazon in the centre.
This is the only one of it’s type that we have come across in thirty years of dealing antiques and it is beautifully made. Please note that there are some small chips/losses mainly on the outer rim. There is some minor wear on the glaze but this does not detract from the overall delightful appearance of this work of art.
Pieces such as this one were originally produced during the Nasrid Dynasty and pieces that date from that period sell for tens of thousands of pounds. During the late 19th century there was a revival in interest in that period of Andalucian history so pieces such as this one was produced for the growing interest in Moorish art and often retailed in high class outlets such as Libertys in London.
Measures 3cm High x 18cm Diameter. Late 1800’s/Early 1900’s.
Shipping will be charged at cost. Please note reasonable offers will be considered. Discounts available on multiple purchases.
