Rare Large Royal Rockingham Trio C1830-31
we have for sale a very hard to find Royal Rockingham large trio consisting of an oversized teacup saucer and side plate.
This trio is decorated with a rather delightful design consisting of lots of small sprigs of green berries with gilt edging. All of the pieces are marked to the base with the pattern number 626, and the base of the saucer carries the rare Royal Rockingham mark consisting of the Griffin over Royal Rockingham Works Brameld in puce. This mark was used exclusively between 1830 and 1831 after Rockingham acquired the contract to make the Royal service but before they had actually made delivered the first piece.
The side plate is 8 inches in diameter, the saucer is 6 inches in diameter, the cup bowl is 4.25 inches in diameter and the cup is 2.5 inches high. The trio is in an excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs an almost no wear to the decoration or gilding. The only blemish to report is a small soot mark in the glaze of the saucer shown in the second image to the right hand side of the saucer.
