This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
A rare & beautiful vintage silver plated Kigu compact that has never been used.
What a beauty!
The lid has a smooth circular border & then the most gorgeous & complex engravings that resemble clam-shell like waves. In the center there is a wonderful lady - not a plaque stuck on, but an original part of the lid fitted into a recess especially made for her. She is shown in relief - a great beauty with immaculate coiffured hair & an expensive gown. The lid lifts to reveal an excellent mirror. The gilt bezel signed 'KIGU MADE IN ENGLAND'. The inner lid has an engine turned design & bears the triangular Kigu registered trade mark. A sliding catch holds the inner lid securely in place & as a bonus the original pouch, silk, (puff) & sifter are in place - all in excellent unused condition. The base has the guilloche design so familiar on Kigu compacts - reflecting their goldsmith's tradition.

This vintage powder compact measures 3" & weighs 104.3 grams.
