Rare Montral Cats of Paris compact rare compacts French compact mirrors 1930s compacts
This very rare Montral compact was made in the mid 1930s & shows the famous 'Cats of Paris' enamel lid. The whole compact is excellent & the lid shows the delightful scene of two black cats in shilouette on the roof tops of Paris. The Eiffel Tower in the background. The whole scene is beautiful. The compact is in excellent condition & it has a powder dispensing mechanism that works perfectly. A wheel at the side of the powder well moves the mechanism to push powder up. The steel mirror is very good. The base opens (image 4) to reveal the powder well. The powder well wall is inscribed with French American & Canadian patent numbers. All clasps & hinges work perfectly.
A must for the serious collector. This very rare Montral compact measures just over 2" & weighs 56.9 grams.
