A lovely pair of antique mahogany single beds. We date these beds to the early 20th century.

The beds each come in four sections: the head and foot ends, the side rails and a metal mesh sprung base.

The panel head and footboards are of the same height with an arched top.

The beds were made for one side to sit against the wall and the outer side had all the decoration. The outer sides of the head and footboards have wider ends with panels of flame mahogany over splayed rectangular section feet with their original castors. The side rail has a panel of flame mahogany with a lovely carved corner section raised to join the head and footboards.

The head and footboards have a height of 45" (115cm), they are both 41.5" (106cm) wide, the overall length is 82.5” (210cm), the height to the top of the sprung base is 13.5” (35cm) and the height if the outer side rail is 16.5” (42cm).

The base will support a suitable single sized mattress 72" (183cm) long by 36" (91cm) wide.

These lovely beds remain in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some indentation lines and marks to the head and footboards and one of the ends has an age split in the panel. The beds have some very slight mellowing to parts.

This remains a very stylish and elegant pair of single beds which will continue to provide sweet repose for many years to come.
