19thc oil on canvas, depicting three young girls one with a bundle of hay upon her head, another feeding hens whilst another sits before a spinning wheel with a Newfoundland dog behind her.'Cottagers daughters' signed and dated W. Bigg RA 1820, bottom left next to the hen. Labels verso, one handwritten explaining who each person is in the painting. In a carved and gilded Chippendale style frame.

William Redmore Bigg (1755-1828) was a regular exhibitor at The Royal Academy during his life.
