Oil Portrait of a Lady 18thc Painting
A beautifully painted oil portrait of an aristocratic lady from the early 18th century (1690-1720)
Possibly European School and influenced by artist Lely.
We have no provenance needless to say , the arm is painted slightly raised with the hand visibly upwards, often associated with portraits by the talented artist Lely.
SIR PETER LELY (1618 - 1680) was the most important portraitist in the reign of Charles ll, although he had painted portraits throughout the Commonwealth. Principal Painter to the King, he painted everyone of importance, maintaining a busy and active Studio to help with the huge demand for his portraits. Members of his Circle, many of them talented artists in their own right, emulated his style to supply this constant market, with his influence stretching far a field.
She wears an embroidered blue silk dress with stringed pearls and lace borders with her hair powdered.

This desirable portrait is painted in great detail and is painted within an oval freight.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt if the item is found to have been misdescribed and the purchaser may be liable for the return costs subject to reasons for return.
