Neapolitan School Painting Of The 18th Century
Splendid Italian painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a Madonna and Child with Saints in adoration of remarkable pictorial quality. Painting of the Neapolitan school attributable to the painter Francesco Solimena (1657-1747), lacking authentication. He was one of the great figures of the late Baroque and Rococo in Italy and contributed to making Naples a European capital of painting. At the top, immersed in the clouds, we find a wonderful Madonna and Child surrounded by celebrating angels. At the bottom instead we find four saints in adoration, on the left Saint Thomas and Saint Francis, on the right Saint Aloysius Gonzaga and Saint Anthony of Padua. Noteworthy is the chromatic brilliance and the executive quality in every single detail, from the drapes of the clothes to the sweet expressions of the cherubs. 19th century frame in carved and gilded wood, of beautiful decoration, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining and color recovery in small spots, overall in excellent condition. Internal measures H 61 x W 49 cm.
