Musical Powder Box Unused 1950s ARABIAN THEMED
An adorable unused 1950s Clover musical powder box in excellent condition complete with all the original accessories - box, pouch, signed puff & sifter. The music box has a lid decorated with a gilt Arabian scene. I believe that the lid may be made from basalt. Around this time Arabian themed vanities were very much in vogue. The 1942 film Arabian Nights in which Sabu, Maria Montez, Jon Hall & Leif Erickson starred was very popular. The film derived from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. Universal Pictures released a series of exotic tales during WWII.
Back to the music box....it is unused, totally gorgeous & it plays very well. The sweet little tune it plays I do not know it is a little like tinkling bird song. The inner lid is signed 'ELEGANCE'. It is
superbly made with a good bevelled mirror. The brass is a deep rich gold & much of the interior & the whole base have an attractive brushed/satinized finish. The brass is lacquered & because of this layer of protection it will never need to be cleaned or polished. The grey felt pouch & cardboard box are in excellent condition too. The box is signed 'CLOVER TRADE MARK MUSICAL COMPACT.' In beautiful NOS (new old stock) condition.
This adorable musical powder box measures almost 9 cm X 6 cm & weighs 140 grams.
