This compact is ideal for your collection or for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror. A splendid 1950s glitter & Lucite Melissa powder compact with the original puff and sifter. The lid is exquisitely beautiful - a clear Lucite dome shields the subtle pink Lucite floral arrangement and protects it so well that it looks as beautiful as it in the 1950s. Set atop a glitter foil background - all perfectly gorgeous..... pale pink & cream flowers & foliage. The outer edge of the lid has engraved flowers & foliage. From the Lucite dome radians engraved in the deep gold brass add to the depth of the lid adornment. The lid lifts to reveal a clear mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is inscribed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. The inner lid and base have complex guilloche designs which are typical for Melissa vanities The inner lid is held shut by the instantly recognizable Melissa 'tear drop' catch. The whole compact is in excellent condition. The tin foil used to adorn this collectible makes it an ideal tin wedding anniversary gift. This delightful mid-century powder compact measures almost 7 cm & weighs 78.3 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
