A Lucite powder compact made by Kigu Ltd. in the 1960s. The makers named this model the 'Karette'. This is a hard to find vanity in super condition. The lid has a Lucite dome housing adorable reverse carved Lucite flowers and foliage. The clear Lucite dome shields the most delightful floral arrangement - a spray of bluebells at each edge and in the middle a pink rose and four little pale pink flowers, each with mint green leaves! The meticulous standards of this maker have ensured that this vanity is still as beautiful as it was in the 1960s. All the brass was lacquered by the maker and so this compact will not need to be cleaned. The high quality interior is fitted with an automatic opening lid. A push button, which is the distinguishing feature of the 'Karette', opens the powder well lid. The lid is engraved with the Kigu triangular registered trademark. The compact was originally made for loose face powder. The original clean signed puff is present. The base of the compact is decorated with an engine turned design. The thick felt pouch will continue to protect this beauty. All clasps and hinges work exactly as they should. Measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and weighs 81.7 grams.
