Large Spanish Floor Vase. %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Large late 19th.c. Spanish pottery floor vase and wrought iron stand from the village of Puente Arzobispo, a long established centre for pottery near Toledo. Decorated with a deer, hunter, and a maiden holding a bird in green with black outline against a cream ground. With a clear mark at the base. Good condition with a few very minor chips from the glaze.
Reputedly the vase was originally owned by Gibraltarian business man and philanthropist John Mackintosh (1865-1940) after whom the fort’s main square was named.
