Large Oil Painting by Prosper De Roover c.1970
Impressively proportioned oil painting on canvas by the Belgian artist Prosper De Roover (1899-1974) c.1970. A winter scene of traditional hay ricks and farm buildings beside a river in a snow covered landscape under a beautifully painted sky of light cloud catching the colours of the early setting sun. Painted in a loose impressionistic style in thick oils. Close inspection of the brushwork reveals unexpected flashes of pure colour in the paint. With a large signature in the lower right hand corner of the canvas. Presented as found in the original moulded wooden frame with silver gilt finish. Excellent condition.
