An excellent quality large, early Victorian, mahogany kneehole writing desk, this comes into three sections. The top has five gilt tooled green leather panels separated by cross banded mahogany veneers, the leathers show slight signs of use that fit in well with the character of the desk. The front panel in the centre of the top is slightly raised and hinges up to reveal a large space with pigeon holes at the back. The desk has eight drawers with their original turned knobs complete with two working keys. This is a fine clean top quality desk with a lovely old and original patina. The back has its original polished surface making it completely free standing. The desk breaks into three sections for ease of moving. Sizes 60”(153cms) wide, 33”(84cms) deep, 30 ½ “(78cms) high. Date circa 1850.
