We are offering for sale a skilfully executed still life watercolour by the monogrammist K.B. who has signed the painting faintly with his initials in the lower right hand corner and inscribed and titled it verso K.B. 1887 'A bit of glass'. The painting depicts what looks like a Murano glass goblet, with an intricately worked stem with a pierced circle of glass, containing three glass flowers. Propped up next to it, and reflecting onto the polished surface of the piece of antique furniture they are resting on, is a silver wine ladle of circular form, with a twisted ebony handle with silver tip. The wood carving on the panel behind the goblet, echo the shape of the stem. The painting has been cleverly composed.

Unfortunately, as there are so many artists using KB as their monogram at this date, and, as we have no other clues to go on, it is impossible to work out the name of the artist, so the painting will have to stand on its merits.

The painting has been mounted in very pale grey, which tones well with the painting and it is framed in a 1 1/4" brushed gilt frame. It is ready to hang.
