John Deacon Longcase Clock

A 30 hour Longcase antique clock by John Deacon of Barton-in-the-Beans, Leicestershire.
John Deacon was born into clock making in 1770. The Deacon family opened its first shop in Leicester on the High Street in August, 1782 where John learnt the clock making trade from his half brother Samuel Deacon, famous clockmaker.
This clock is a lovely example of his work, circa 1800. This simple but very attractive clock is typical of the Deacon clock type. The Oak case has two marquetry inlaid shell details. The clock itself has the usual Deacon movement with pin count wheel striking mechanism.
This clock has two historical labels inside with a very sweet note gifting this clock to Pam from John in 1950 for Christmas.
Measures 86" High x 18" max width. If you would like any further information, please don`t hesitate to call my mobile 07860304084 ( Peter ).
