Hurst of Ashford Lantern Clock Circa. 1710

1 of 6
A genuine 18th century lantern antique clock by Hurst of Ashford circa 1710. The mechanism was converted to twin fusee spring driven from weight driven in the Victorian period. Many were done to 'improve' the timekeeping in Victorian times. The whole clock case is original, one picture below shows the case only and cut outs to the top. A silvered chapter ring signed 'Ar Hurst, Ashford' and well engraved dial centre. A double fusee mechanism of good quality striking the hours on the bell.
Arthur Hurst of Ashford in Kent is recorded in Loomes 'Lantern Clocks and Their Makers' book as working from 1690 -1741.
