1 of 6
A Heal & Sons Limed solid Oak bureau/bookcase, circa 1930 with Heals ivorine label to the drawer.
The carcase is of solid quartered Oak construction, apart from the back boards which are Oak veneered plywood, and comprises a two door glazed upper bookcase above a bureau with a single long drawer above two panelled doors and a multi pigeon holed interior. The Loper supports for the fall are operated by automatic brass stays. The fall is of solid Oak construction with cleated ends and possesses its original lock and key. The back edge of the bureau is cut out to accommodate skirting boards so as to lie flat to the wall. The construction is solid and the Liming is original and beautifully clean throughout, the un-exposed interior areas like the book shelves and the pigeon holes are the original lighter Limed colour (having been less exposed to UV light) and blemish and ink free. The upper and lower sections are demountable for carriage.
