Gyula Boros Hungarian Still Life Oil on Panel

We are delighted to offer for sale this beautifully executed still life oil on panel by the Hungarian artist GYULA BOROS, who has signed the painting Boros in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a pewter tankard embellished with figures on a draped marble ledge. There are two pewter platters, one containing a glass half full with wine, a bunch of grapes and some walnuts, while the other contains peaches. There is also a silver handled fruit knife, a silver watch and an open box to the right.
GYULA BOROS, was born in Hungary in 1951 and showed an aptitude for art from an early age. He is largely self taught, but has been influenced by the classical disciplines taught at the Budapest Academy of Fine Art. His work shows the influence of the Dutch Masters. He started his career painting landscapes, but soon developed his love of still life, with his intricate oils of various objects painted with huge attention to detail.
He has exhibited in his native Hungary and in Amsterdam and London and his work has met with international renown. There are paintings of his for sale in galleries in the US and the UK and his works achieve very high prices in France at auction. There is a painting of this size for sale currently in a gallery in the UK for £1,125.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1/8" gilt frame which suits it very well. It is ready to hang.
