Grimwades Lustre Jug/Bowl Set Glimpses Of The East Grimwades Lustre 1930s %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
We are offering for sale this delightful lustre Jug and Bowl from the 'Glimpses of the East' range by Grimwades of Stock on Trent, Staffordshire.

The Jug and Bowl bear scenes of an oriental (arabic) nature, including a carpet seller and the back of the jug bears a silhouette of a camel rider in the desert. As in the art world, there was much interest in such scenes in the 20s and 30s.

Lustre wares are highly sought after and this is a wonderful example, produced from 1930 onwards. We have checked the makers mark on the base in Godden's Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks and this confirms the date.

Height of Jug and Bowl: 13" - 33cm

Diameter of Bowl: 17" - 43.15cm

Condition: Excellent. There is no restoration, cracks, chips or hairlines. There is slight rubbing to the gilding consistent with age.
