Gorge strike repeat carriage clock by Henri Jacot
A beautifully presented early 1900s French striking repeating 8-day carriage antique clock in a gorge-styled case, the movement signed for Henri Jacot and numbered 16828.
The 8-day striking and repeating movement retains its original silvered platform which has a crescent bridge and shaped bottom edge.
The 8-day movement strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour on a gong. Depressing the button on the top of the case will repeat the last hour struck. The backplate is stamped with the serial number 16828, Henri Jacot's trademeark of a parrot on a perch, and MADE IN PARIS.
The gilded gorge case also has the serial number stamped on it.
The perfect white enamel dial has black Roman numerals within an outer minute track, and an inner ring. Arabic 5-minute numerals are painted outside the track.
Blued steel spade hands.
The rear of the dial plate is stamped with the emblem for Henri Jacot's 1889 Award, when they were awarded the gold medal for carriage antique clocks at the Paris Exposition. They were again awarded the gold medal in 1900, so it can be deduced that this clock can be dated in the 1890s.
Henri Jacot were responsible for the production of superb carriage antique clocks, known serial numbers starting from 387 to over 19,000 when all production ceased in c.1920.
Height: 7 inches with the carrying handle up.
To be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
