This is a good quality pair of Chinese lacquered elm armchairs with a beautiful warm red hue and lovely patina. These very smart chairs are well constructed in solid elm and date from the late 19th century. The lacquer is attractively rubbed along the front footrails, the fronts of the seats and the arms where the golden colour of the elm shows through beautifully. The chairs are in excellent order with good sound joints. They are 98 cms high, and are a good width at 68 cms wide, with the wide seats being 53 cms between the arms. The chairs measure 47 cms deep overall and the seat height is 50 cms.
