Gilt repeating Carriage Clock with Barley twist columns
A very decorative French striking carriage antique clock dating from the late 19th century, restored, overhauled and all in perfect condition.
The gilded brass case stands 8¼ inches (21cms) with the handle up, somewhat larger than average. It has a well crafted design with many interesting details - dentil cornicing around the base and top, barley twist columns to the four corners, topped with Corinthian capitals, the handle to match. It has a deep base, the cornices of which are curved rather than angular, giving the clock a more elegant look.
The white enamel dial is in perfect original condition. It has Roman hour numerals, and Arabic five-minute numerals .
Original matching blued steel moon hands.
The eight-day movement strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour on a coiled gong, and has a repeat function - depressing the button on top will repeat the last hour struck. It retains its original silvered club tooth lever platform escapement.
Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
Height: 8¼ inches (21cms)
Width: 4 inches (10.5cms)
Depth: 3½ inches (9cms)
