A rare & classic beauty from the luxury range of Stratton accessories. The best Stratton 'Royale ' I have had in my collection. This 1950s Stratton compact has gorgeous black enamel & a romantic scene on the lid. A gentleman kneels in front of a lady who is dressed in fine robes. She has a fan in her left hand. The scene is charming & makes this unused powder compact highly collectible, as does the condition of the vanity. As you would expect from this maker the enamel is lustrous black enamel. The compact comes complete with the original pouch, puff & sifter, all of which are pristine. All the external & internal brass is lacquered & without any signs of wear. The fact this compact is lacquered means it will never need to be cleaned. The puff is decorated with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo as is the inner lid signifying that this vanity is fitted with an automatic opening inner lid. Tilt the mirror back & the inner lid opens. Stratton patented this mechanism & it was invented to prevent ladies from breaking their nails when they opened the lid to the powder well. The whole compact is in superb condition. The base is decorated with the Stratton famous all over star design.
The Stratton "Royale" measures 2 3/4" X 2 3/4" & weighs 110.5 grams.
