A charming oil on oak panel depicting a man with pipe at a window. The painting is of a good quality and will have been created after similar examples of seventeenth century Dutch artists. The painting is not signed but this is not unusual for this type of provincial work. The two panels of oak that make the board have come apart over time and there is a join. The work is mounted in a period Rosewood frame which compliments the piece very well. There is some slight shrinkage of the panel at the edges. The whole has a great country look and is ready to hang. C.1800.
