Georgian Mahogany Chest of Two Over Three Drawers
This antique chest of drawers looks to date primarily from the first half of the nineteenth century. It is made from mahogany and consists of two small drawers over three longer graduated drawers. The chest is supported on bracket feet. The drawers retain handles, escutcheons and locks but please note that no key is present.
Condition: Overall this chest is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use, and would benefit from some tlc. The drawer runners are stiff and need attention. There is some scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the piece is overall faded. There are some areas of wood loss in places, and the edging strip along the top is missing to one side. The metalware has some tarnishing and surface corrosion. There is some marking and scuffing to the top. The chest shows some signs of restoration and repair, and we believe the feet may have been replaced at some point.
