Circa 1775, George III oak long case grandfather antique clock by James Ivory, Dundee. With an unusual hood with broken pediment and open fretwork board beneath the top. 2 columns are incorporated into the large glazed door and these columns have brass capitals and bases, and there are similar quarter columns at the back of the hood. The face is a mixture of polished steel, brass with spandrels, Roman numerals, Arabic numerals, hand cut steel hands, calendar and seconds hand also. Beneath the top is an ogee moulding which follows around the front and the sides. There is one full length door with an arch top, brass escutcheon and stylish hinges and on the inside of the door there is a print out from ‘Scottish Clock Makers’ by John Smith.. It is finished on squat French feet with a shaped apron at the front. James Ivory, Dundee traded between 1762 and 1795.
This clock has been serviced and is running, stylish and clean.
