This is a stunning George III sewing table in the chinoiserie taste which dates from the late 18th century. The black lacquer sewing table is is very beautifully hand decorated and gilded in red and gold lacquer. It has a rectangular top on tapered turned supports and hairy paw bracket feet with a turned stretcher and a slide out embroidery bag with wonderful dragon design fabric. The table is profusely gilded with figures, pavilions, flowers and foliage. The similarly decorated interior has pierced carved inserts, lidded compartments, lift out lacquer trays and quite an array of various hand carved sewing items (some damaged) such as spools, needlecase, bobbins, crochet hooks etc.
The table is 24 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 29 inches high.
