G. F. Bowers Adelaide Shape Tea Cup & Saucer
Very nice early Victorian tea cup and saucer in the "adelaide" shape attributed to the G. F. Bowers manufactory. Emulating the style of Coalport, decorated with an underglaze blue and gold vine leaf pattern with hanging grapes and coiling tendrils. A simple gilt decoration around the outside of the cup. Painted pattern number 558 in red to both pieces.
Reference: A Compendium Of British Cups, plate 899 for a similar example.
The cup measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high, 10.5cm (4 1/8") rim to rim and 13cm (5 1/8") rim to handle. The saucer measures 14.8cm (5 7/8") wide and 2.8cm (1 1/8") high.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light, just a little rubbing to the gilt right in the centre of the saucer as is common. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
