Framed Mary Elizabeth Duffield Watercolour
Artist Mary Ann Elizabeth Duffield (nee Rosenberg)(1819-1914), a British watercolourist specialising in botanicals
Title Untitled
Medium Watercolour
Details Lovely still life scene of roses in a vase. Signed and dated 1880 in one corner. Mounted, framed and glazed in an antique gilt-painted frame with decorative moulded corners. On the back of the frame is a label for 'J & W Yokins, Carvers, Gilders, etc. by appointment to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales' and a typed sheet with the artist's details on.
Condition Overall in good bright condition with good colours. Some minor evidence of staining at the top and some minor foxing (brown spotting). The frame and mount are in good clean condition but do have some wear consistent with age. The mount has a few marks. The gilt frame has some wear and scuffing as might be expected, and is overall a little grubby. There are a few areas of cracking and minor loss, and some scuffing to the paintwork. The paper label and sheet attached to the back of the frame are both browned with age, and the typed sheet with the artist's details on has some significant loss to one side.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Image - 27cm by 37cm
Frame - 45cm by 55cm, 2.5cm deep. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
